BBC producers reportedly want to retain Top Gear’s popular (or not so popular to some) Star In A Reasonably Priced Car segment from the old series – and they’ve told Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc to trawl their contacts list and convince their famous friends to take part.
When Jeremy Clarkson was hosting, the segment was able to attract big names including Tom Cruise, Simon Cowell, Roger Daltrey, Will Smith, Tom Hiddleston and Susan Boyle. However it’ll be interesting to see if any celebrities are willing to make an appearance on the relaunched version.
The wish-list is likely to include the cast of Friends including Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry, Hollywood stars Drew Barrymore, Bradley Cooper and Gary Oldman and pop singers such as Harry Styles and Adele.
A source on the show said: “Top Gear is famous around the world and we usually get good names. Chris and Matt should not have a problem getting the cream of the crop from their contacts books.”
Series 23 will begin in May and will run for eight episodes. There were fears that there may only be six shows as filming was behind schedule, but now TV chiefs are confident they are back on track and they will have enough material for the full eight episode run.

Well, personally, I always liked the star segments. Admittedly, in earlier seasons I didn’t know who many of the celebs were (I’m American), but it was still interesting and funny. I wonder if the boy’s Amazon show will have something similar…
