The Grand Tour

The Grand Tour Series 3 may be delayed until 2019

It’s a question which continues to be asked by millions of fans around the world – when will The Grand Tour Series 3 be released? For the longest time, we’ve remained hopeful that we’d see a launch date sometime in December 2018, but as the days pass the possibility of that happening is looking increasingly unlikely.

In previous posts we have suggested that The Grand Tour Series 3 might kick off on either November 23rd, November 30th or December 7th. These are dates which were selected by us after looking at the studio segment filming dates for Series 3 and comparing them to dates used for last year’s Series 2. Our logic was sound and our dates were definitely in the ballpark, but crucially there are a few other warning signs that might mean the actual release date for the third series could be later than we envisaged.

If you were to cast your mind back to late 2017 for the launch of The Grand Tour Series 2, a couple of things stand out. For a start, Amazon dropped their official Series 2 preview trailer on November 1st 2017 and announced the first episode would be available on December 8th 2017. Back in the present day, we’re nearing the end of November with no Series 3 trailer or launch date to be seen.

Based on last year’s timeline, one would expect that The Grand Tour would release a trailer for Series 3 at least a month prior to the actual launch date of the series. So a trailer released in late November or early December would almost certainly suggest that Series 3 would be pushed back to 2019 – and that isn’t good news for any of us. But there’s more…

Here at TopGearbox, we’ve received reports from fans who attended various filming sessions for The Grand Tour Series 3 studio segments, providing us with a few more precious tidbits of information. According to those audience members, the show’s executive producer Andy Wilman stated that Series 3 will launch on or around January 18th 2019, and that studio segments for a ‘Christmas Special’ have also been filmed. Neither of these facts have been confirmed officially, so be sure to take them with a grain of salt.

However, if they do turn out to be true, we would suggest that the following events might happen:

  • We’ll see a launch trailer for The Grand Tour Series 3 in early December 2018
  • Amazon will release a separate Grand Tour Christmas Special on December 21st
  • The Grand Tour Series 3 proper will begin January 18th 2019

Do you agree with our predictions for The Grand Tour Series 3, and how close to the mark do you think we are? Only time will tell! But for now, let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Why oh why cancel the grand tour it’s the best internet car show and I have a lot of friends who reel the same as me it’s just stupid why not sell the series to Netflix it’s available to a bigger global audience that way stopping it is suicide I know that Jeremy James and Richard are getting on a bit but it is a great time to watch with fish and chips and a can of cola on a Friday night I stay in to watch it

I asked Andy Wilman on Instgram about a week ago what had happened to Season 3 and he replied “We’re just finishing it now. Couple of months and it’s all yours”. So Season 3 will not be out till January (and so will The Grand Tour Game apparently).

Put me down for December 12th to the 18th. The Grand Tour people do as they want when they want. They don’t have any advertisers to make happy except Amazon so they are not as pushed by deadlines as other shows. I think since Christmas is big thing to all the guys they will want to have new shows for Christmas time.

In Reality,i suppose it is reaching the “Use By” date. After all J.C. in particular can only burn out so many sets of tyres, which fascinates most young males. We know how much tyres cost, and does burning them up show a cars quality in handling, comfort and simple driveability? I won’t even say humble opinion the answer is no and to myself it’s boring. Boys and their toys, help the ratings. Most of us girls have better toys( called males).
