Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May will reunite next month in front of a live audience in Johannesburg, South Africa, with tickets being released as part of a prize draw. Amazon revealed that Johannesburg was chosen as the starting location due to the trio’s popularity in the country. Following show’s will each be filmed in different countries – thus creating a Grand Tour.
Instead of filming in a dark studio at Dunsfold Park, each show will be recorded in a giant tent, with the usual pre-recorded films inter-cutting audience segments. Jay Marine, vice-president of Amazon Video Europe, said: “We love that Jeremy, Richard and James are touring the studio recordings of The Grand Tour, bringing this Amazon Prime show to fans around the world. Given the popularity of Jeremy, Richard and James in South Africa, Johannesburg is a fantastic place to start. We’re excited to give fans the opportunity to be part of the first ever live studio audience for The Grand Tour.”
If you’re hoping to attend the first taping of The Grand Tour, they’ve decided to hold a competition to win tickets – where contestants must tweet their best photo or video of “the most unusual place they’ve ever put up a tent,” with the hashtag “#TheGrandTourJoburg.” Amazon will choose the ten best entries, which Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May will narrow down to three winners. If you’re one of the lucky few, you’ll net two tickets to the taping, round-trip airfare, three nights in a four-star hotel, on-the-ground transportation to get from the airport to the hotel to the studio, and $300 in spending cash.
But you’d best get busy setting up that tent – you’ve got until the end of June 8th to enter!

Clarkson has confimed they have already filmed the Xmas special , which is my favourite thing they do , unfortunately they have done it on Africa which is now a 3rd time , I know they are running out of places to film these specials but a new place like Australia or somewhere would of been good .
They haven’t ran out of places to film…Trust this guyz, they will surprise you everythime, as we know it
I thought they were ditching the audience? Good thing they’re not 🙂
Awesome competition. To bad it is the wrong country/continent. 🙂 Hope they come to Europé soon.
Of course they will! It’s just that they spent so much time in Europe during TG that they want to experience the places that wouldn’t let them due to them being with the BBC. BBC held a LOT of restrictions as to where they could go. I don’t know what to expect with the new show but from the budget they have now compared to the one that they did all that marvellous stuff in TG with, I can only begin to imagine what we are going to get.
