Is The Grand Tour ‘Breaking Bad’ for Series 3?

Yesterday we brought you news that The Grand Tour team are currently filming in the United States, after photos of a stunning white Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 were posted on Jeremy Clarkson’s Instagram account. But this isn’t the only thing the boys are up to while in the land of the free…

Most recently, cryptic photos have appeared showing Clarkson in an old motorhome, with a card-playing Richard Hammond and James May along for the ride. Later, another photo showed the trio standing in a barren desert-like area – perhaps in Nevada, Utah or New Mexico. Three men in an old RV out in the middle of nowhere – we couldn’t help but think how familiar this all sounds…

Which begs the question – Is The Grand Tour channeling their inner ‘Breaking Bad’ for Series 3?

Aside from the similarities I’ve already mentioned, a Breaking Bad tie-in on The Grand Tour actually does make some sense. For a start, all six seasons of Breaking Bad are currently available to stream on Amazon Prime, and Clarkson is known to have been a massive fan of the show. “I’ve just finished the fourth series of Breaking Bad. It is extremely good,” Clarkson tweeted back in June 2012.

Bryan Cranston plays Walter White in Breaking Bad

Set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Breaking Bad followed Walter White as he was transformed from a meek high school science teacher who wanted to provide for his family after learning he had terminal cancer, into a ruthless player in the local methamphetamine drug trade. Initially making small batches of meth with his former student Jesse Pinkman, Walter and Jesse eventually expanded into making larger batches of a special blue meth that was incredibly pure – creating massive demand.

Although cooking blue meth in a mobile drug laboratory probably won’t be on the cards, perhaps the boys are out to recreate some classic scenes from Breaking Bad, or even face some unique challenges set in the spirit of the show? I think I speak for all of us when I say that I hope we don’t have to see Clarkson in his tighty-whities – we can all do without that.

Perhaps our hunch will prove to be incorrect, but for now we’re excited to think about what The Grand Tour trio might have in store for us when Series 3 becomes available towards the end of the year.

Do you have a different idea as to what the boys might be up to? Let us know in the comments below.

As long as there’s no footage of messrs. Clarkson, Hammond, and May stumbling about in tatty Y-fronts, I’ll watch it.

As long as there’s no Pontiac Aztecs involved, I love to see a TGT take on Breaking Bad, I’m with Clarkson, it was a fantastic show.

I suggested to them on drive tribe a good year ago that they should do the Oregon trail in caravans … Maybe that’s what they are doing.” Jeremy has died of dysentery” would be epic. Richard did comment that he liked the idea of that happening to Jeremy

Say NO TO DRUGS
Is what is promoted,so why is it “cool” to pretend you are involved with them.
Channelling a TV show that actually promotes this, not a good idea.
Or,do we think that younger(in age and mentally) viewers, will understand it is only pretending?

Let’s hope that what people watch doesn’t inspire them to go out and do these things otherwise we won’t really care what they’re doing here it’ll be much worse.

Really though, if the dogooders stop TV from showing these things as well we might as well go back to living in Caves. If watching this type of behavior on TV makes you go out and do it then you were likely going to do it anyway regardless of what triggered you.
