If you look at the Peugeot Tepee for more than a few seconds, you will automatically think ‘is that a van’ and I would have to agree that it does look kind of van-ish, but I can assure you that the Peugeot Tepee is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
The design brief for the Tepee would of course been simple for Peugeot ‘family or leisure use with the ability to carry a large amount of gear and the kitchen sink with a capacity of up to seven seats with as many storage holes as humanly possible’.
I’m not joking regarding the storage holes either – I have never seen so many storage holes and secret compartments in a car – it’s like sitting inside James Bond’s duffle bag.
Power and Efficiency:
The Tepee I have on test is powered by a 100hp 1.6 litre diesel engine that performs well and is one of Peugeot’s best engines and will happily return 68mpg (combined) Top speed of course is of no concern here, because the Tepee was designed to be a family and adventure friendly vehicle.
The important bits like Torque figures are more relevant because of the nature of what the Tepee will be doing and carrying. That 1.6 HDi diesel engine produces 254Nm which is great for all those green fields you will be hitting while out on your adventures.
On the road:
The Tepee provides a decent ride and is actually very comfortable and well thought out. The suspension also felt good with no sign of a harsh ride, even when fully loaded. Also, it actually felt very relaxing to drive and I enjoyed driving the family around in it all week because it fitted in nicely with all we have to do as a busy family unit.
Design and Interior:
This is the Tepee’s party piece ‘storage & carrying’ below is just some of what I was talking about when it comes to space; there is a overhead storage area above the passenger and driver’s head, front door storage pockets which can hold bottles of up to 1.5 litres, drawers under the front seats, space is also provided in the floor for rear passengers, plus many litres of storage in the centre console and 675 litres of boot space which can then be increased by up to 2650 litres using the modularity of the folding rear bench seat (row 2 seats fully folded). Go for the Active Blue HDi 100 S&S version and you can even opt for a seven seat format.
Technology:
Driver and front passenger airbags, two isofix seating points, cruise control with speed limiter, Peugeot Connect USB with Bluetooth, Touchscreen with digital radio (incl. Bluetooth, USB and Aux Sockets), Visibility Pack – automatic lights on, rain sensing wipers and LED daytime running lights are just a small amount of kit you get in the new Tepee.
To sum up: The Peugeot Partner Tepee is a fantastic little machine. Go and find your next adventure – you won’t be disappointed
