The 5 most annoying airports in the world according to Jeremy Clarkson

If you were to spend as much time flying as Jeremy Clarkson does, you’d soon begin to appreciate the difference it makes to fly with airlines who go the extra mile to provide fantastic customer service, comfortable seats, and fast on-time flights.

Similarly, the design of the airports themselves also plays a major part in any enjoyable travel experience – because for a brief time, they’re your home away from home. So when they’re good, you’ll board your flight feeling cool, calm and refreshed. But when they’re bad… well, here’s Jeremy Clarkson’s list of the top 5 most annoying airports…. in the world.

5. Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport

Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International is awarded 5th position on Clarkson’s most annoying airports in the world. Why? Well as Jeremy explains… “I hate the color of the carpets. Purple and brown? They need to do something about those carpets.”

4. Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi

Nairobi Airport lands at #4 on Clarkson’s list of most annoying airports. Although he hasn’t specifically stated why, the airport was ravaged by fire back in 2013 – causing extensive damage to the international terminal and adjoining buildings.

In that same year, work also began on a new “Greenfield Terminal” with a capacity of 20 million passengers – making it the single largest terminal in Africa. It would have been great, if the project wasn’t cancelled in 2016 because it cost too much…

3. John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)

JFK Airport consistantly ranks as one of the worst airports…. in the world. So it is not surprising that it clocks in at #3 on Clarkson’s list. Highlights (or lowlights) include a severe lack of timeliness, accessibility and amenities. There’s also a high rate of flight delays and cancellations, long drive times and insane parking fees.

To make things worse, JFK also takes the cake for having the longest security backups. Joy of joys.

2. Luton Airport

Luton Airport is awarded 4th position on Clarkson’s list of the world’s most annoying airports, due to having the largest percentages of cancelled flights on average compared to all the other airports in the UK.

1. Gatwick Airport

Jeremy Clarkson’s track record with Gatwick airport is patchy at best, so we’re not surprised to see it end up taking out the prize of Clarkson’s most annoying airport in the world.

Last year Clarkson was forced to check in at the original time for a flight to Kefolonia, Greece, despite the fact that it had been delayed by FOUR hours. Instead of waiting in the terminal like an idiot, Clarkson decided to wait in the comfort of his own home until his new departure time arrived – even though that meant his suitcase wouldn’t be on the same flight.

But that didn’t bother Jeremy, as he had thought up his own punishment for the airline once he touched down in Greece. “I should have known not to use a budget airline called Norwegian which paints its planes so they look like penises,” he said.

“So I’d have to check in at breakfast time for a plane that wasn’t going to leave until after lunch. And then spend time mooching around the shops, not smoking.” Being obtuse, I decided not to bother. Which meant that they didn’t bother to put my suitcase in the hold. This meant they had to deliver it to where I was staying. Which was on a yacht, an hour’s speedboat ride from the airport.”

Serves them right!

How on earth India is not in the list ? There are some really hateful airports in India.

Also Clarkson replied to one of the comment that India is not in the list. He stated that he visited India quite a lot. That is weird.
