Lancia Stratos and Delta Futurista to appear on The Grand Tour Series 3

Two modernised versions of the most legendary Lancia’s ever made are set to appear on The Grand Tour Series 3, if photos posted on Jeremy Clarkson’s Instagram are anything to go by. Photos taken by the Grand Tour host on Wednesday revealed that he will be driving the new limited-production 2019 Lancia Stratos, plus a restomodded Lancia Delta ‘Futurista’.

The new Stratos, built by Manifattura Automobili Torino, is based on the Ferrari F430 – which means it is powered by a 4.3L V8 engine producing 542bhp of power 383lb-ft of torque. It pays homage to Lancia’s legendary sports and rally car – seen here in light blue – of which 492 examples were built between 1973 and 1978. The new Stratos was first unveiled in concept form in 2010, and has been described as a ‘competent supercar for the daily use’.

How competent, you ask? Well, it’ll hit 62mph in just 3.3sec and on to 124mph in 9.7sec, with a top speed of 205mph. Quick enough that a new camera car was required – hopefully it’ll be able to keep up!

Clarkson also tested the Lancia Delta Futurista – a car built by Borromeo de Silva from Milan, which includes all-new body panels added on top of an original Delta Integrale chassis. The new panels are made from aluminium and are a bit wider than those found on the original – and a lot lighter.

While the Futurista retains the old Delta’s inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine, it has seen substantial upgrades and now produces 330hp – or an increase of 130hp over the original. Just 20 examples will be produced, with an estimated price tag of 300,000 euros.

Clarkson’s love of Lancia’s is well documented, so we’re glad to see them making an appearance on The Grand Tour Series 3Filming for the studio segments of the show will take place between October and December 2018, suggesting a possible Series 3 release date of either November 23rd, November 30th or December 7th.
