There’s been plenty of hot new cars displayed at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, and here are some of the highlights.
Bentley Bentayga
“The fastest, most powerful, most luxurious and most exclusive SUV (sports utility vehicle) in the world,” reads the promotional material.
It’s a bold statement from Bentley and it appears to have won over one very famous fan with the U.K.’s Queen Elizabeth expected to become the first customer, according to the Telegraph newspaper.
Porsche Mission E
Porsche has jumped on the electric car bandwagon and took the wraps off its battery-powered four-seat concept car called the Mission E.
The automaker claims that the Mission E can charge up to 80 percent of its power in 15 minutes. Porsche CEO Matthias Müller has said that the firm will decide at the end of the year whether to put this car into production. He added that it will be better than any electric vehicle on the market, including Tesla’s model.
“We are proud of Tesla as a competitor, we accept that but Porsche always wants to do it better, and the…effects and figures of this car we will launch today should be better than everybody in the market,” Müller said.
Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo
This is a car inspired by a Sony PlayStation game so don’t expect it on the roads anytime soon. This is “for the fans” says Bugatti, which is using this concept car as a stopgap measure before the unveiling of its new super sports car in the “not too distant future.”
“This project makes our brand accessible to the millions of Bugatti fans throughout the world to say thank you for their loyalty,” said Bugatti President Wolfgang Dürheimer in a press release.
Nissan Gripz Concept
Nissan’s Gripz concept car is a “sporty crossover” inspired by “classic desert rally cars and racing bicycles.”
The Japanese car maker says that the car is designed for both city commutes and daring mountain rides.
“In the same way a cyclist will use a bike to get to work and then head out on that same machine for an adrenaline-fuelled ride when the working day is over, so too can the driver of the Nissan Gripz Concept tackle the city streets during the week before enjoying a drive over a mountain pass on a day off,” Nissan said in a press release.
Mercedes-Benz “Concept IAA”
Like something out of the “Transformers” films, Mercedes-Benz unveiled a car that can shift shape.
The vehicle, named the Mercedes-Benz “Concept IAA” (Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile), switches into “aerodynamic mode” when the car hits 80 kilometers per hour. A number of “aerodynamic measures alter the shape of the car” when it hits the crucial speed, according to the German automaker.
Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Spyder
Lamborghini, known for its flash design and high price tags, did not disappoint at Frankfurt. The Italian carmaker unveiled the Huracán LP 610-4 Spyder, a convertible version of its existing model.
The luxury car has a top speed of 201 miles per hour and will retail at 186,450 euros ($211,249) plus taxes.
Jaguar F-PACE
Jaguar unveiled its crossover sports SUV called the F-Pace in its bid to enter the rapidly-growing market for larger cars. To show off the new vehicle, British stunt driver Terry Grant drove the F-Pace around a 19.08 meter tall loop-the-loop, setting a new Guinness World Record.
“It’s a very luxury, very sporty, very dynamic, with very good drivability…and the first Jaguar ever in this kind of segment but taking the DNA of Jaguar,” said Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover.

Nissan’s thing is pure concept, but those rims should see the light on some production vehicles.
Scaled down to 17 or 18 inches they would look great
I never liked concepts because they always seemed unrealistic to me but Mission E looks brilliant. I like the lambo too but the rest aren’t my cup of tea.
