We’ve heard before that Ford is planning a sport-utility vehicle blitz, with many commentators convinced that the iconic ‘Bronco’ nameplate will be brought back from the dead. The big question is, if the Bronco did return, what would it look like?
Well, the boys over at Bronco6G.com have had a crack at it, offering up a suggestion that combines the Bronco’s iconic, boxy yet rugged looks and Ford’s contemporary design language. “Our concept features a modern body-on-frame next-generation Bronco that retains a tall, boxy, tough, no-frills design with a strong focus on utility and off-road capabilities,” the forum administrator wrote. “We fitted separate versions with different grilles, wheel fender shapes, varying ride heights, and cargo rack for some different looks.”
Without a doubt it looks very impressive, and this is a design direction which would be very popular with existing Bronco fans. If the Bronco does return though, it is possibly Ford might resist the urge to incorporate these retro styling features, and go with a more modern design which fits in better with their current model lineup.
Ford sales and marketing chief Mark LaNeve didn’t confirm the Bronco’s return when he laid out the company’s new SUV strategy earlier this month at the Chicago Auto Show. But clearly there’s support for it.
