What you’re looking at here are spy photos of Lamborghini’s 2016 Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce, the roadster version of their already ridiculous Aventador SV. Seen driving through Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, it had almost no camouflage applied, suggesting it is nearly ready for production.
Compared the the SV coupe, the Superveloce will feature a removable carbon fibre roof and will reportedly be only 50kg heavier, but it’s doubtful the slight weight penalty will actually translate to any substantial drop in performance. It’ll also share the same Lamborghini 552kW 6.5L V12 engine, sending power through a proprietary 7-speed ISR transmission to all four wheels, meaning it’ll take you and your loved one from 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds, and on to a top speed of 350km/h.
One noticable omission from these photos is the large rear wing which adorns the back of the SV coupe, but we’ll have to wait and see what the final production version looks like, as Lamborghini hasn’t offered a convertible Superveloce model before. Wing or no wing, the Superveloce will be limited to just 500 units, or 100 less than the coupe that’s already sold out.
You can expect to see it in Australia in 2016, wearing a price tag of over $900,000.
