Morgan Motor Company has revealed their new EV3 three-wheeler at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, which they say looks at the world of zero emissions motoring from an entirely different perspective. Morgan asks the question, ‘What if an all-electric vehicle was bespoke made, hand crafted and exhilarating to drive?’
Morgan say the EV3 embraces new technology, delivers unadulterated driving excitement and continues to celebrate traditional British motor manufacturing. Following a soft launch of the Phase 1 EV3 mule vehicle in 2015, Morgan has now released photos of the final pre-production car, which now features a restyled body and interior. Even with the electric drivetrain and battery on-board, the EV3 weighs in at less than 500kg and promises a range of 240km (150mi) range.
The EV3’s light weight, combined with a 46kW (62hp) liquid cooled electric motor and a 20KWh lithium battery mean it’ll still get along nicely, although it won’t quite challenge the regular internal combustion version three-wheeler. Early indications suggest a minimum 0-62mph time of less than 9 seconds and a top speed in excess of 90mph.
An entirely new dashboard arrangement features a classic ‘magneto’ switch for drive selection, a digital screen, wood, brass and polished aluminium.
The EV3 will go into production in the fourth quarter of 2016 will be priced comparably to the petrol 3 Wheeler.
