Alfa Romeo updates Giuletta hatchback

Alfa Romeo have released photos today of their newly facelifted Giuletta hatchback, ahead of its unveiling at the 2016 Geneva motor show.

Although we think ‘facelift’ might be too strong of a word, with the new honeycomb grille, satin door handles, new front bumper and oblique exhaust tips perhaps representing botox at best. People who enjoy watching paint dry will also notice that Alfa Romeo have also used a new, more modern looking font for the Giuletta badges on the tailgate.

Thankfully, the changes aren’t just cosmetic. New on the drivetrain list is a dual-clutch transmission, mated to Alfa’s 1.6L turbo-diesel engine, which produces 89kW (119hp) of power and a healthy 320Nm (236lb-ft) of torque. There’s seven other engines also on the menu, including an 89kW (119hp) 1.4L, a 112kW (150hp) 1.4-litre Multiair, a 127kW (170hp) 1.4L Multiair and a 179kW (240hp) 2.0L engine. Along with the new 1.6L turbo-diesel, there’s also a 2.0L diesel available in two states of tune – 112kW (150hp) and 131kW (176hp). For those who have trouble deciding, there’s also a 120kW (161hp) 1.4L dual-fuel Petrol / LPG engine.

If anything, the changes to the interior are even less noteworthy than the exterior. It’ll come with a newly updated infotainment system which takes advantage of Uconnect Live app (on Android or iOS) to connect to services such as TuneIn radio, TomTom Live navigation, plus Twitter and Facebook. Giuliettas with the larger 6.5-inch touchscreen interface will come with satellite navigation as standard.

The slightly refreshed Giulietta will be available in three trim levels: Regular, Super and Veloce.
